It was a session where delegates were split into 2 subgroups, each subgroup interacting with 2 groups of guest speakers, who themselves are entrepreneurs. For my subgroup, we got to meet Ms. Belle Liu the founder of BeansBox Studio Ltd., as well as four entrepreneurs from The Entrepreneur’s Network. They were Mr. K.K. Lim, Mr. Philippe Degrange, Mr. William Griffith and Mr. Danny Kwan.
The session was enjoyable, as the speakers were eloquent, inspiring and friendly. They showed us, not told us, what it takes and how it feels like to be an entrepreneur. They were excellent in empowering you and challenging you to make the change you want. To me, what they said were not only useful for my future (should I decide to be an entrepreneur), but also enlightening for me as an individual. ‘Make the change you want, for no one else will do it for you!’, ‘Nothing is as good or as bad as it seems’, ‘do things that you are PASSIONATE about’, ‘Walk your talk’, ‘Think big, start small’. These words will stay in my head, and continue to encourage me through the tough times.

My key learning points from the conference (both personally and in terms of AIESEC information) was…
Keep an open mind when attending a conference. Be open to different kinds of learning. You will never know what to expect for a conference. So welcome every kind of experience, embrace every person you meet. There is always something there to learn at all times. If session is boring, learn to be patient; if the session is too short, learn time planning for future conference when you are the OC; if you are too sleepy to listen, learn how to slap yourself awake! Step out of your comfort zone, and interact with them. Learn things in a different way, see things in a different perspective. And you will be pleasantly surprised. In terms of AIESEC knowledge, I’ve learnt a lot about the AIESEC situation in other countries. For example, the way the culture of excellence is implemented, the way they disseminate the bulk of AIESEC knowledge to their new members by installments, the way they recruit their members, the way they involve their members everyday.
However, we may not be able to implement all their ways in Singapore, as the level of popularity of AIESEC is different. In other countries, specifically Hong Kong, AIESEC is already well-known among students, and it is considered to be an honour to be able to join AIESEC. Thus, AIESEC Hong Kong has larger number of applicants. They can afford to set a more stringent criteria. In Singapore, AIESEC yet to stand out from the rest of the CCAs. Thus, our main focus should be to attract as many interested students as possible, and not to only select students that we deem to possess appropriate mindset to be an AIESECer.
Nonetheless, the ideas learnt are not totally irrelevant. There are still useful tips that Hong Kong AIESECers have taught me, which I thought would be useful. Firstly, it is the way AIESEC knowledge is imparted to new members. They use AIESECers who have had the relevant AIESEC XP to explain the relevant AIESEC knowledge. These are the ideas that we can adopt, to make AIESEC knowledge more digestible and realistic.

The biggest impact for me at the conference was….
Empowerment! I feel motivated by the delegates, inspired by the guest speakers, and empowered by the conference. After the conference, I feel more empowered to achieve the dreams I want, to realize the change I want to make to the world, as well as to AIESEC in Singapore. If I want the change, I need to create it myself!

Brief Description of Sessions
1. @ Knowledge: CoE and PBox
Culture of Excellence (CoE) is not about excellent LCs, but about LCs which strive to be excellent. AIESEC Hong Kong defines CoE as the ability of LC to attract and retain talent, and create a culture and an environment that values excellence and achievement. The facilitators then go and to explain the importance of retaining talents and the actions taken to cultivate the culture.
PBox sessions saw delegates from NTLC (National Taiwan University) presenting their PBox projects meant for their internal PBox competitions. The presentation was followed by a discussion on various issues about their projects.

2. Charcoal Nite
It was a barbeque session for group to have better interactions with each other. We had great fun barbequing, chatting, playing games and conducting forfeits. Through the session, we got to know each other better, which ensures better communication for the later days.

3. CSR Cup
Groups were divided into bosses and workers. Workers had to perform tasks under harsh conditions with little assisting materials provided, for example, cutting circles without a scissors, and arranging decks of cards with only one hand and without a table. Workers could then request for extra materials from boss. Meanwhile, boss earned money by playing a modified captain ball, then they had to use the money earned to purchase materials that workers requested, or other materials that they deem helpful. It was a session for us to realize that what boss deemed necessary may not be what workers truly need, to illustrate the need of communication between boss and workers.

4. Building up spirit
Groups played station games that emphasized on the need for leadership among groups, good communication, trust, and proper task allocation among members.

5. Guest Talk by The Honourable Bernard Chan
The Honourable Bernard Chan is the legislative councilor as well as the chairperson of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. He shared with us how his council encourages CSR among companies in Hong Kong.

6. Embark upon CSR
It was a series of presentations by the three organizing LCs to introduce to us the situation of CSR in their countries, namely China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

7. Guest Talk by Dr. Charles Yeung
Dr. Charles Yeung was the CEO for the Glorious Sun Group. He shared with us the philosophy and principles behind the running of his companies. His philosophy centres around Confucius and Meng Tze’s philosophy. He also shared with us why companies should regard CSR as a very important issue.

8. On the Stage, Below the Spotlight
It was a session for groups to take a video of topics assigned, such as AIDS, Water Pollution, and Smoking. Groups had to discuss the problem and the possible problems to solve this, and finally come up with an advertisement for the topic.

9. Stand for CSR
Delegates were given materials regarding the implementation of CSR by western and eastern countries and were asked to discuss the differences between both and the reasons behind the differences.

10. Recapturing
Felix Thai the facilitator gave the delegates a few thinking questions such as ‘When was I at my best today?’, ‘Who is the person who has inspired me?’, and ‘What are the 3 things I want to bring back to LC?’. These questions were meant to help us consolidate things we have learnt today.

11. Study Tour
Groups are divided into three teams heading for three different tourist destinations: The Peak, Tsim Sha Tsui and Mongkok. It is also a chance for delegates to interact with each other better. To ensure a good mix between delegates from different countries, there is a quota for number of people from the same country going for the same destination. Within the three destinations, groups were further divided into smaller groups to ensure easy management.

12. Morning Plenary

Rollcalls and dances from different countries were exchanged here.
13. Guest Talk by Mr. Cheung Leong

He shared with us the hardships of being an entrepreneur.
14. Start Your Business
Groups received a different case study of an entrepreneur. After reading the materials, groups have to draw out his path to be an entrepreneur, and discuss the obstacles along the way.

15. Entrepreneurship
This was a short presentation by each group based on the case studies done in the previous session.

16. Work it Out

17. Walk with Entrepreneurs
Delegates were split into 2 subgroups, each subgroup interacting with 2 groups of guest speakers, who themselves are entrepreneurs. Subgroup A met Ms. Belle Liu the founder of BeansBox Studio Ltd., as well as four entrepreneurs from The Entrepreneur’s Network. They were Mr. K.K. Lim, Mr. Philippe Degrange, Mr. William Griffith and Mr. Danny Kwan, while subgroup B met up with Mr. David Lee the chairman of Team and Concepts Limited and Mr. Francis Ngai the Head of Strategy of PCCW Solutions.
Speakers spoke about their ideas behind their enterprise, their challenges as well as tips for success.

18. Deep in Your Mind
This was a recapture to summarise things learnt during the previous session – ‘Walk with Entrepreneurs’

19. Cultural Exchange
It was a session to introduce the countries where delegates and facilitators are from. Groups could do powerpoint presentation, videos, present in traditional costumes, or bring traditional or symbolic food to share with the delegates.

20. Greater China Politics
The main them was corruption. There was a presentation by Guangzhou LC regarding corruption in the Greater China Region. Then, each group will perform a skit, where group members took up roles in the drama. They would be given instructions on the general storyline individually, but they were free to make certain decisions, which were explicitly related to corruption. A conclusion was done by Guangzhou LC to wrap up the session, as well as to introduce the various measures adopted to reduce or eliminate corruption.

21. @ Party
It was held in one of the residential halls in HKU. During the party, there were fashion show performance by every group, as well as skulling among groups, OC and facilitators. After that, it was AIESEC dance session.

22. It’s your turn
It was a simulation of everything we have learnt throughout the four days. Every member was given an identity with different backgrounds. They had to earn money or learn skills during the session. There were different stations set up, namely the CSR stations, education stations, skills learning stations, employment stations, gambling stations, stock market stations and prison. Groups collect stamps after successfully performing certain tasks. Some tasks required pre-requisites from other tasks.
After that, it was a business plan writing competition. Each group had to come up with a business idea, write a business plan about it and present it to the judges. Scores would be given according to their performance.

Our AIESEC XP
Create the change you want!
Craving for a wholesome AIESEC EXPerience, 10 Singapore delegates, originating from 3 LCs, fulfill their desires by missing a week of school to attend the RIPPLES Conference organized by the Hong Kong University LC. Indeed, 21st to 24th January marked one of the greatest AIESEC moments the delegates had up to date. It was a time to meet and make global friends, a time for intense learning, a time for sight-seeing at famous tourist destinations, a time for good food, a time for fun.
The main topics for the conference were Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Entrepreneurship. CSR encompasses sensible welfare for workers as well as responsibility of companies to contribute back to the society, while entrepreneurship is about starting a business on your own. Speakers holding vital positions in companies were invited. They spoke fluently about their passion, their roads to success, their guiding motivation, their challenges and their solutions to these challenges. Some friendly speakers actually left with us their contacts and invited us to contact them to clear more doubts!
Knowing that international delegates would naturally be fascinated by Hong Kong tourist destinations, the Organising Committee (OC) was kind enough to insert a study tour for us. We had a choice of going to The Peak, Tsim Sha Tsui or Mongkok. Scenery from The Peak was superb as it overlooks the entire Hong Kong island and Kowloon. The chilly wind up there was a kind of ‘cool’ experience on its own as well. The walk at Tsim Sha Tsui allowed us to have a panoramic view of uncountable skyscrapers at Hong Kong Island as well as being excited over handprints of the many famous Hong Kong stars at the Avenue of Stars. Mongkok was a shoppers’ paradise. It had so many merchandise to offer that those who went came back empty-handed as according to them, ‘We don’t know which stall to stop at, as once you stop, you can’t move on!’
One of the most enjoyable moments during the conference was the meal times! Our stomachs were well taken care of, possibly due to the generous sponsorship by various companies (a demonstration of CSR!). During main meals, we sat in groups of 10, enjoying up to 15 delicious dishes of dim sums, fried milk, lemon chicken, tofu and others. We were well-treated with Hong Kong delicacies even during tea breaks. Egg tarts, pineapple buns (bo luo bao), black sesame dessert, bean curds were a few to name of.
Hong Kong is renowned for its vibrant AIESEC activities. In fact, Hong Kong won the 2006 UBS Global Excellence Awards for Asia Pacific region last year in the Poland International Congress! Within HKU, it wasn’t hard to see that their members are empowered and motivated individuals. Many of the first year members have already attended more than 3 conferences within the year! The OC of the conference was made up purely by Student Nominees (SNs) who will be going on exchanges.
We’ve made great friends! Through great friends are a lot of great ideas exchanged. Roll calls, culture, We’ve learned a lot about AIESEC in other countries, as well as AIESEC knowledge. This time, we particularly discussed a lot about People Development (PD), as we thought that PD in Singapore is one area which has a lot of room for improvement. Enthusiasm for AIESEC is what we saw in them and what we hope to culture in Singapore as well.
This trip to Hong Kong has also illustrated to us how AIESEC can connect people in the world. While checking into hotel on the evening after the conference has ended, a lady approached us and asked ‘Are you all from AIESEC?’. Apparently she was the LCP of the Auckland University of New Zealand ‘many years ago’, to put it in her own words. That evening, we had dinner with her, and had had a hearty chat about how difference AIESEC is years ago and now, as well as how AIESEC NZ is different from AIESEC Singapore. What a surprise encounter!
On a final note, the RIPPLES Conference has increased our concern for the corporate world, deepened our AIESEC knowledge, widened our circle of friends and fired up our passion for AIESEC and our commitment to make a change in the world. Sharpening our skills, attending more conferences, organizing more conferences is what we will continue to do, so that we can be the change agents, to bring about the change we want!

POST CONFERENCE DISCUSSION

well, since there is an order from our Chief Delegate...i have to post our discussion so far for more people to join in and give comments and ideas....synergy and energy.
all externals of rippleans as well as others are welcomed to join in our discussion and give suggestions.

WARNING: DUE TO SOME EXTENSIVE USAGE OF LANGUAGE, SOME CONTENT MAY HAVE BEEN CENCORED OR EDITED.

hey dudes, juz some suggestions. Since our group are this high quality, highenthusiasm people who just got back from Hong Kong, still suffering fromthe post cenference syndrome or watever u call it. and we are all stillsomehow a little bit inspired by the conference, does anyone have anyidea so that we might come out with some projects in @, so that wereally dun waste all the inspiration we got from the conference. coz ifwe do nothing after the conference and so many sleepless nites ofdiscussions the passion and fire will soon go down and i dun think thattime anyone would wanna do anything. its juz a suggestion. Show ppl welearned something from Ripples. I personally suggest we organise aconferecen( i like conference,im addicted to meeting people). tho itwill be abit of similar OC SK work, but i think it will benefiteveryone. can all enthu people give some replies or comments?? - Siew Yik

yeah! i want another conference! haha~ Cheryl

Haha,Another conference is good, I'll be free from Mid-May onwards after allmy FYP/Exams/Projects...A bit overloaded for now. ;)Maybe something small like "Problems and issues facing South Eeast Asia"?Just something for thought.Hee.. - Nic

i'd like to organise another conference too! but my involvement would really depend on the timeline, cos i'll be overseas from 2 may to 2 august. but it's definitely an idea we should consider seriously. keep the fire and passion going guys!!mx =)

Having a conference is a good idea. But i was thinking, what do we want to achieve by organising more conferences?? Is it juz only about meeting pple and having fun? I feel that the ultimate relevance of such conferences is to provide platforms for people to come together and exchange ideas. From these experience, we are able to formulate ideas on how we can improve our society. A good conference is an event where people learn more and are able and motivated to apply their knowledge to benefit the society. Period.
I'm keen on starting a conference but it must be of important themes and objectives. Or do u think it will be better if we can start applying what we learn in HK?? Like promoting entrepreneurship in Singapore? - Lun Kai

just to add: i agree with lunkai but i think it's not just about applying what we learnt in hk. the most important thing, IMO, is to centre the conference around an issue which is of high relevance in the singapore context. entrepreneurship is a good idea, but just that i feel that this issue has been overdone and over-discussed in singapore.i actually thought of politics in singapore and the region, but maybe that's too much of a sensitive topic to attempt. hmm. will try to come up with better ideas when i'm less sleepy! =Pmx =)

Cool man! I can see that our passion is placed into action! This thought just crossed my mind while typing the previous line. We can organise a conference/project called 'Passion in Action!' It will be a joint project by 3 LCs in Singapore and may be we can invite regional LCs to come together and work on a topic we are passionate about. Right now I can't really think of any projects/conferences to do. Oh yes I do have 2 ideas! One is PD! not PB. Was thinking it as a regional/international conference where LCs come together and discuss specifically about PD. Another one is Roof for All. This is to cater to people who do not have a roof over their head. We can do a project about it, to collect donations to help them for short-term, and at the same time probably provide them with some skills so that they can be employed, and this will hopefully solve the probs of the homeless people. But this project will be a more regional ones, as there are fewer homeless people here in singapore. What's your say? But I am currently down with another AIESEC proj in NTU. Hopefully can be free.. which I seriously doubt so. And for Teajoy, my lesson ends at 630, so will join you all straight at teajoy instead. Hopefully I won't miss the last train again. I still prefer this,PB

i agree with wanxin(i ll be nice for once, not calling her PB =Pp)
i seriously think SG needs a great revamp in the area of PD, which is much more established in other areas. like our member tracking system, is it for EBs to make a decision with? are the activities we plan enough to excite members, hence translates to higher member retention rate? have we been putting together a team with gd dynamics to the best of efforts? has the model adopted by AIESEC been communicated to all? lots of qns which i dun haf an ans and do not expect to have a straight answer.
and the area of passion, we can talk about passion. how to ignite passion? are there general rules in which we can do to ignite passion among members? and what are the elements tt keeps tt fire going on? its always based on the individual, but izzit based on team dynamics too? =) - Marcus

Hey all :) Wow I'm so proud of you all! Rippleans rock!
It's great to see such a high level of enthusiasm, passion, and the desire to create positive change for a better society. That's the AIESEC spirit man! See, that's what I mean when I say there's HUGE potential in the current members...yeah :) keep it up!
Ok about the conference.
YES we should organise a conference...i'm all for it! There should be more vibrancy in AIESEC rather than just the normal induction and NLDS. There should be conferences to address issues on a more specific level and to engage members. So YES organise a conference!
Next, the conference SHOULD be a collaboration btwn all 3 LCs. Firstly because Rippleans are from all 3 LCs, and because we can pool together more resources (both human capital and monetary) by involving all LCs and the 3 universities.
We can even learn from HKU and involve SNs as well! Especially since we all know how successful this year's SN recruitment is. (There are 100 over applicants, should be able to engage some of them)
With regards to the topic, I think we shouldn't focus on CSR and entrepreneurship cos these have been done too much already.
If we want to make it a regional conference, meaning Asia in general, we should identify a topic that wil be relevant to all AIESECers coming from the region.
PD might be possible...if we can do something like experience sharing from PD departments from LCs around the Asia.
I'm also thinking along the lines of coming up with a joint Development Traineeship for Asia as a whole - kinda like M.A.D. on a regional scale. Community service trips to Thailand, Vietnam, China are becoming so popular among students nowadays, so it might be a possible project.
That's all I can come up with now. Keep the ideas flowing! :)
Cheers,
Pam

i was thinking maybe we can start by revamping Jumpstart... Jumpstart is the event that all 3 LCs will definitely pariticipate in... Furthermore, it's the event where most fresh members will first attend and hence form an impression abt AIESEC. This way, we not only get to organise an event, but partially tackle the problem of PD as well... since many of us have ideas abt how to run a conference/camp/nlds... we can start by channeling those plans to creating a whole new jumpstart experience...Laura

yeah i agree that we should focus on themes like community service for Southeast Asia, especially promoting education. My idea is that we have a conference where we invite LCs from other countries to discuss about regional issues. It can be something like a starting point for @ers to embark on multi-national social projects.
great to see that everyone is so enthusiastic! keep the fire burning! carpe diem! - LunKai

wow, Lun Kai ur idea is cool....so the conference can be like each country rep presenting the problems in their countries......mayb we can even have something like comunity service projects around south east asia. wouldnt it be cool if our schedule is something like 2 weeks go malaysia and teach, after that 2weeks go thailand and teach, after that 2 weeks go myanmar and teach so on so on so on...then it would be an SEA thing....that sounded cool...but it is possible??or am i just dreaming??it requires lots of preparation and lots of planning before hand.comments anyone?? -SiewYik

Siew Yik, u are not dreaming! Our idea seems very ambitious but i believe it is achievable. The important thing is that we are committed and we can get committed @ers to join us!- LunKai

so i do a summary for all k?
Brainstorming Ideas:
1) Organising a conference
themes: Problems and Issues facing South East Asian Countries (Nic)
People Development (Marcus)
politics in SG and the region (Mei-xi)
Passion in Action (Wanxin)
Passion (Marcus)
MAD on regional scale (Pam)
CIP to thailand, china, vietnam (Pam)
promoting education in thailand, china, vietnam (Lunkai & Siew Yik)
2) Improving on Jumpstart and NLDS (Laura)
Execution style to be overhauled and OC should be conducting the sessions too.
Marcus Chia Xiquan

True True! AIESEC is truly THE PLACE for us to realise wildest dreams we have to change the world! Bring on the passion man! Yoohoo! So glad I stepped into this correct boat! Still in PHD,PB

My thought led me on and on.. What is the ultimate source for poverty? Money? Definitely not if you just outright donate it to the poor. Education? Yes it equips the person with the suitable skills for employment. But he can only break free of the poverty cycle if the society has an established economy that is in need of large quantity of workers, blue or white collar. How about for countries which do not have economy? It may be hard to imagine this. Allow me to tell my teacher's XP of doing comm service at Nepal as a teacher. The parents spent almost every cent of their meagre earning to support their children to school. They believe that education is the way out for their children. But sadly, the town has no economy at all. Like people only use their money to purchase food and that's all. (They are using barter trade still, if I am not wrong. If I wasn't hallucinating, I believe my teacher told us that some of the parents pay school fees using cows or other farm produce..). So, even with education, there'll be no one there to employ them. Unless they go far far away. Ok.. enough story told. Basically the point is, there're more problems to solve than just education. Poverty is a long deep multi-causal problem, as we all should have realised long time ago. Do we want to stay at the shallower but easier and more manageable level? Or do we want to go all the way to the core (if we can even do that). Like discover more layers of the problems then come up with a more probable set of solutions? If my humble ideas are accepted, I was thinking that we can first have a conference to discuss poverty, then it may spin off to be numerous pbox projects targeting at different problems to poverty! hehe wild dreams spinning its way! Hopefully wan xin is making sense.Oh my gosh.. it's the first mass mail that EVERY RIPPLEAN replied! Synergy! Empowerment! Next point, I was thinking if we can discuss about our great ideas at the blog instead? So that the rest of the OCs can be involved as well. conference, on the whole, I felt that the Ripples OC had put in great effort to make this whole event work and I did enjoy myself greatly during this conference; learning a bit more about CSR, making new friends, enjoying delicious Hong Kong food, wearing warm clothes in cool weather as well as learning more about myself. Much appreciated the efforts that they put in.

I did feel that maybe this conference is not as powerful as the NLDS that we had organised much earlier; perhaps because of the itenary, perhaps of the content.

There is some plus points that I would like to highlight out - I found that the talks by entreprenuer most inspiring, perhaps it's because they projected themselves not as distance/powerful as the chairman of Glorious Sun Group, but as ordinary people willing to share their extraordinary dreams.

On the whole, I think it's a good starting point for an AIESECer to discover more about himself as well as about the world.

Cheers!

Just for Funz

=)
bored in seminar..may as well do something fruitful like spamming the blog =P
have funz =P
anw siewyik is juz like legolas's role here =Pp

I've gotten a PHD - Post Hongkong Depression

Woke up at 5pm today, after a good sleep since 2am. Weather was very kind to me. Perhaps too kind. So woke up feeling totally hungry, bathed, ate dinner, went for a super-duper-long-and-tiring meeting, came back and started facing the reality by connecting to the internet. 250+ mails. Nothing compared to Marcus. But till now, which is 3 hours after me sitting in front of the laptop and having shoulder ache, I haven't started checking my hotmail yet. Which is where the bulk of the mails lie. Oops.

Feeling real sucky and detached from what's happening here. My voice is coarse like toad, brain is dead. But I never regret going out with you guys. Thanks for putting up with me for my high, my low, my crappiness, my absolutely not funny jokes, my childishness, my sucky leadership, the late night meetings in the chilly nights, my refuse-to-get-out-of-bed habit... It feels great to travel in groups! Esp with sporting gays who don't mind entertaining us everywhere, regardless if it is in the MTR station, in fashion boutique, ocean park, on the streets. Hey, can give us your accommodations locations so that we can arrange to be near? Easier to gather and go out together as a group.

NWMSL - More or less confirmed. Be going to Macau via 9am 20th Jan flight Tiger Air, spend the time there. Return via 27th Jan 8pm flight.

DP - Be joining NWMSL via 9pm flight 20th Jan flight. Reaching Macau around 12am 21 Jan, bunking with NWMSL over the night and go together to HK next morning. In case DP is wondering why it's planned like that; I can't really find other direct flight on 21st in the early morning, and this is the fallback. Perhaps we can see if there's any night-spots in Macau and go see see look look before next day's conference.

That's all folks.

Merry Christmas!

Signing off
WTP

MC Elections

Just in case you all are not really paying attention to the chain of E-mails, I have checked with China Bowl and we can vote via proxy.

Hence unless you are the nominee, you don't really need to be at the MC Elections.

I've found some 3D2N Free&Easy Travel packages:

Stay at Concourse Hotel (at Mongkok, Kowloon) - SGD 538. Somehow we just had endless things to chat about. Even with calculators like wenjie. But he is one oxymoronishly SCARY JACKER! Run for your life! Aaahhhh~
Should I post what Marcus did here again? Ahh I can imagine the thousand rotten eggs and tomatoes thrown towards my direction already. Ok ok I won't. But just one more thing about uncle marcus. He is a walking christmas tree! Ok almost one. To save himself from carrying a bag, he hang everything on his jeans, or dumped everything inside the pocket. There's a sbs bus guide in his left back pocket, beside that is an 1 litre orange water bottle dangled a hook hooked onto his jeans. Right in front, there's a camera in a camera pouch, and in his right front pocket, a pen. And somewhere hidden in his pockets, there're wallet and handphone. So christmas-y-ish!
Today OC mini-outing was fun! Ok it was like a super-impromptu one. Just because uncle Marcus wanted to go candy empire in vivo that we traveled to vivo once again, after the 13th trip. And we were self-entertaining ourselves to the MAXIMUM in there. We actually stood inside for almost an hour and cracked jokes! OC are a bunch of super fun people. Mei-xi exhibiting her act cute pouty lips to attract her bf, Nicholas entering with bags that made him look like he is running away as a refugee... Then somehow the topic went on to HK trip! It's like the core of our discussion nowadays.. even on the very siandiao msn mass chat. So in the end we went up to the roof top (commented by Siew Yik as the very nice place) to chat. But we kept going off-tangent, with the smuggers chatting about their results and stuff, then it started raining also. So we just moved in to chat again. So it was a good half an hour? before we finalised the flight plan. We thought we have finalised it. Things are so impermanent man~
Then Mei-xi left, Wen Jie came and Marcus left. And we headed on to fig and olive for dinner, ordering the exact same Fish Melted Cheese for all four people. Great minds think alike! *but fools seldom differ hiakhiakhiak* It was okay la.. I thought the fries were good. Then we continued chatting all the way till 8 before we realised WE HAD TO GO! So we started rushing back, making stops at candy empire to do pam-nic-cheryl-wenjie-siewyik-meixi-marcus-you-know-what. So by the time we reached the mrt, we were horribly late! Hoho.. Not late intentionally but was done consciously! *slap slap* So that explained why we were horribly late for the meeting. Sorry. Oh pardon.
OC is still so fun! Yes I agree we shouldn't discriminate against the minority, like those in pulau boon lay and pulau clementi. But at the same time, we should respect those not going for HK conference also. And also important important, please don't just treat this like a place to pen down only your mtv award thank you speech place. Of course thank you speech is a MUST! But other than that, this is a place for us to crap! So please utilise it ok? Sorry I have no pics for vivo outing. Marcus and Mei-Xi do have one pic at Bakersin thought.

NLDS

well, since i have nothing to do at the mean time...(im still waiting for the "9.00" pm meeting...)...i juz tot,why not log in and blog something.hehe...hmm...lets see...about the NLDS..was damn fun lah,i met the whole super fun OC.i think thats the most fun part on top of every other thing.
at the start of the whole thing, was quite a bit boring, coz every one dont know each other well, after some time slacking and gossiping, all of us had so much fun...not to mention being called the "delivery man" and got tag on watever "we live to deliver" tagline...it was so fun..especially times when we were there slacking and complainning about the SK jobs...LOL....

All i wanna say here is i do appreciate the frenship we had..and for the suggestion to make this blog not too boring, mayb someone can post up watever photos or events like outing event or watever things.or mayb can put up some info about the HK or future conferences...but pls...dun make it bcome an SMU LC blog later....hahaha.....pls respect minority...especially those who stuck in msia and cant attend OC outing to vivo....
and the last thing i wanna mention here to all the ppl, especially to those went vivo...pls online now lah......very sian ler....wait liao so long u all sumore wanna hang out at vivo....go home meeting lor..!!

cheers
Siew Yik the delivery man.

afterthoughts..

dear OC,

the time we spent together
came and gone,
in the twinkle of
an eye.

the amusing moments that were captured on film (or rather, the memory card from the camera) were but a few of the numerous memories that remain (hopefully, etched) in our memories. each of us has got our own responsibilities - food, wake participants, get conference materials, get stuff printed, get this, get that.

We really missed out what the conference is all about - sharing, interacting (I try to do a little of this) and so on.

But on the whole, I glad that at the end of the day, everything went smoothly (although there's a glitch here and there) and most importantly everyone went back with a smile, knowing that they had brought back a "precious" part of memory to where they are from.

Time flies...

Until we meet again, let's work our ass off making each day a better one.

Signing off,
Winne the Pooh

Quote from Uncle Thong

'the good memories still kept with me, the sai kang all left at levels 4, 5, 10 and hostel'

Holding on to my promise. We live to deliver

So the SK III blog is out! I was quite hesitant to set it up, being afraid that you guys wouldn't respond to it. But at the same time, I didn't want to lose touch with you guys too! Cuz you guys were the very essence of the event which had given my life a miracle twist! I am serious. I was feeling quite down before the magical 8th December. Then I met teddy bear online and below was the conversation:
~wan xin~{i must be crazy. I actually smiled to a cat!} says: if i start out a oc blog, will u go
Nic YS : Fullgear FYP / Post NLDS Trauma / @ SIPO NLDS... fruitful event[4th Marathon - Dec 2007] says: why not?
His words gave me great courage! And this blog was out.
I don't know how long this blog will stay active, or if it would be active at all. I know everyone of us is a busy man/boy/girl, a lot of us will be overseas soon. But I am just doing what I can to hold on to the group. :)
Next, the rationales behind the the naming and stuff.

Why this name? I wanted skiii.blogspot.com. Taken. I wanted sk3.blogspot.com. Taken too. Out of exasperation, I just used this name.

Why this template? I wanted to use either SKII or DHL ones, but apparently blogskins doesn't have it, which was quite obvious. Out of exasperation, again, as I was quite tired, I just used the the up-to-standard template that I see which has anything related to mails or letters. And this was it. And I thought the colour was wonderful! Since we had so many gay scandals in SK III. Of course, anyone can change the template ok? Just tell me your email and I will send you invitation!

Yepz. I am really tired now. Nites. Hope to see at least one more post.
